UCH UCD LCA-CH VL Faran v. Alpensee LCA-CD AKC-CD RN CGC TT (& 1/3 UAGI) joined us at 8 weeks old, Fourth of July weekend in 2000. I chose him because of his fabulous structure and perfect movement, his happy temperament, and his harmonious nature. He was a bit of a late bloomer, not accomplishing much in the breed ring until his third birthday.

Faran Vet Parade Then it was a sweep of straight majors, wrapping up 2003 with his LCA championship, his UKC championship, Best of Winners at the spring Mid-Atlantic LCA regional, Best of Breed at the fall Mid-Atlantic regional, #3 in the UKC standings, and #1 UKC Top Ten Total Leonberger.

He also took Best of Opposite Sex at the 2004 spring Mid-Atlantic LCA regional specialty.

While waiting to "bloom" in the
breed ring, Faran entered the obedience ring for the first time at 15 months and but for a single mistake would have qualified that day. He finished his LCA CD with a first place in Novice B at the LCA national specialty in 2002, right before his second birthday, and finished his UCD later that summer.

He was #4 LCA Top Leo in obedience for 2002. He earned his first leg in UKC agility but has not had a chance to finish that title. He passed the American Temperament Test Society test in 2002, and his CGC that same year.

A consummate showman, Faran enjoys showing and working. My reliable demo dog in classes ranging from puppy K, to basic, to sub-novice, to novice, to open, to rally and conformation handling, he sparkles when the spotlight is on him.

He believes all applause is for him, and positively struts when he hears it. He's a natural at carting, and we're working toward competing next year.

He is also very good at water rescue, though he is more like the Newfies in his businesslike approach to that sport.

Clicker trained from 8 weeks, he has a varied repertoire of tricks and behaviors on cue, and is eager to perform whenever and wherever called upon to do so. He adores children and turns himself inside out with joy when he meets them.

Faran is in the LCA Stud book. He is healthy and sound, a lovely representative of the breed in both structure and temperament. He is a Category 1, and is available at stud to LCA approved bitches only. Faran is also AKC FSS registered and DNA profiled. Please contact me for further information.

Faran von Alpensee came out of retirement to humor me and go back into the obedience ring, this time in AKC. At six years old, he has earned his AKC CD. Three trials, three qualifying scores, three placements. At 7 years old he earned his AKC Rally Novice title in three straight trials.
